In fuel cell systems, the majority of water and hydrogen mixed with excess electrochemical reactions are discharged through air, but there is still a portion that diffuses back to the anode through proton membranes and is discharged from the fuel cell stack through the anode. To recover and recycle hydrogen, an efficient water gas separation device is used at the anode outlet of the fuel cell to recycle the separated hydrogen gas back to the stack for reaction use!
